Social construction and negotiation of ethnic identity throughout every day and festive activities among the Kurds.

The project aims to examine: how do Kurdish internal migrants socially create and preserve their ethnic identities, how they negotiate between Kurdish and Turkish cultures and how they function in multicultural metropolis under intensive pressure of dominant Turkish culture. Author wishes therefore to determine how Kurds in Istanbul cultivate their cultural identity through social interactions.
