  • Asûs Gallery

Asûs is the name of an imaginary land inspired by the works of Kurdish writer Mehmet Dicle, well-known to Polish readers. Asûs is a place that blends elements of a city and a village, characterized by its vivid literary imagery and the rebellious spirit of its inhabitants. The name Asûs derives from the Proto-Indo-European word as, meaning "stone" or "hardness." By adopting the term "Asûs" as the name of the Jagiellonian University Faculty of Philology’s photography gallery, with its rich lexical scope and cultural significance, we aim to highlight the multidimensionality of language as a means of interpreting the world. Location: Faculty of Philology, Mickiewicza 9b, 4th floor, next to the elevators.
