Fairy tales are one of the most popular element in folk literature. They has been created since ancient times. Although scholars have different ideas about their origin and sources, they accept that fairy tales have plenty of common elements and motifs. Stith Thompson is one of them. He gathered a lot of these common elements and collected them in his great work " Motif-Index of Folk-Literature". Such common motifs can also be found in Kurdish fairy tales as well. This paper deals with different ideas of sources of fairy tales in "Motif-Index of Folk-Literature" and motifs in Mirze Mihemed fairy tales.
